"Songs by Divination" is an album made entirely on a eurorack modular synthesizer, recorded live in a studio session, in Cantabria, Northern Spain, as a project for an upcoming trip through mainland China.
The album is inspired by the I Ching and uses use the method of divination provided by the I Ching from one of the modules, which decides the melodies and rhythm that make the piece. Since the factor of chance can be applied infinitely, the module makes it possible to lock sections of the "virtual coin toss" which is the main principle basing this piece. The notes used for this piece are gōng 宫, shāng 商, jué 角, zhǐ 徵, and yǔ 羽, as they seemed appropriate for the concept.
Further exploration of the patches used for this album is only limited by time, as the unlocked generation of melodies and rhythm can go on almost boundless.
